Five families in Alice’s neighborhood are leaving town for the
holidays; which is good news for Alice since each family has hired her
to take care of their pet while they’re gone. Alice loves animals so
she doesn’t mind taking care of them and it gives her a little extra
spending money for the holidays...
Alex looked at the fallen leaves blowing around the yard last week and
had a great idea. He went around to all the neighbors, offering his
raking services to clean up their yards. He got five jobs for this
week, a different neighbor each day. The neighbors all lived on
different streets and each had a different yard size, so some days he
made more than others...
Peter and four friends challenged each other to wear the scariest
costumes for Halloween this year. The only rule was that they had to
make their own costume. Each one went as a creature of the night...
and boy, did they come up with some good ones! They planned to meet,
decide which one of them was scariest, and then go trick or treating
together...
Joe is all set for the weekend! His wife is going away for a girls’

sports were all airing games this weekend and the schedule actually
worked out so that they could watch all of them, none of the games
overlapped...
The Millersville Happy Feet shop carried a wide selection of foot wear
for the whole family. The shop also had a cobbler section in the back
where customers could get their shoes repaired or modified. While he
usually always had enough to keep him busy, Fred, the cobbler, had a
particularly large quantity of orders this week. What made this week
odd however was that he had four pick-ups for shoe repairs, each on a
different day, by the daughters of his friends...
Sherry decided that, for several members of her family, she’d give
each of them a different quilt for their birthday present this year.
For each one, she picked a different common quilt block for the main
design of the quilt. Then she picked the colors and so each quilt used
a different number of colors. As each birthday occurred throughout the
year, each new quilt was revealed and presented...
Sam works in a convenience store off the highway on weeknights.
Generally, Tuesday nights are pretty slow and Sam has plenty of time
to read. Tonight however, he’d had a steady flow of customers since
his shift started four hours ago. He suddenly realized that his last
five customers had been a bit odd too. Usually, he got lots of people
stopping for coffee or some other drink while they were on the road...
School starts next week. All the local stores have back-to-school
sales running and the parents of Millersville have been busy getting
new clothes and supplies for their kids. The stationary store on this
particular evening was very busy as the parents all stocked up on

Summer camp at Camp Hiawatha is in full swing! Alicia loves being a
camper at Camp Hiawatha – the activities and fun and doing things with
lots of other kids is great! But, she IS annoyed about one thing –
even at summer camp she can’t get away from chores! Each camper is
expected to keep their bunk bed, trunk, and the possessions in their
area neat. In addition, each week the campers in each cabin share the
common chores, like sweeping the cabin floor and taking out the
trash...

they want to participate in during the day...

night riding rides, playing games, and eating carnival food...
For Jack and four of his friends, the last weekend in June
traditionally heralds the start of camping season. Each year, five
friends pack up their camping and hiking gear in preparation for a
five-day jaunt in the woods. They meet at the same place every year in
the mountains – The Woods Diner – a little out-of-the-way place they
stumbled across deep in the mountains with great food...
Susie loved animals and had a large collection of stuffed animals.
However, there were several that were her favorites. She decided this
morning to rearrange her stuffed animals and give each of her
favorites a special place in her room. Along with a name, each of her
favorite stuffed animals also had an age and all were younger than
her, of course...
The Millersville Bookshop is hosting local authors for book signings
next week. They’ve chosen five authors with new releases and invited

time. In an effort to have something for everybody, all of the invited
authors wrote in different genres...
Last Saturday, the 54th annual Millersville Auto Race was held with
great success. The weather was beautiful and warm, a perfect day for a

crash that almost involved half the field. Fortunately, no one was
seriously hurt and the race continued...
Greg’s ready to buy his first house and has spent the past few weeks
looking at houses. So far, he’s found five that he likes. They’re all

houses that he likes are different styles...

Fortunately, each boy really liked a different girl. Yesterday was
Valentine’s Day and to celebrate, each boy screwed up his courage and
gave the girl he liked a Valentine. Not realizing that the other boys
were doing the same thing, they still managed to give their
Valentine’s in a different place and at a different time during the
school day...
Thursday morning the students of Redwood High School walked into their
English class to be greeted by a pop quiz. The quiz was on this week’s

were quite surprised to find out that their guess was right...
Five couples decided that their children were old enough to stay up on
New Year’s Eve to watch the ball fall and celebrate the coming of the
new year. The kids were very excited and fully enjoyed the special
treat, especially the delayed bedtime!
Louise’s five sons love computer games and playing with their friends
online. Each played with five to seven other boys and the great thing
about the World Wide Web was that none of their gaming friends were
within easy driving distance to them. Many of them even lived in other
countries...
Each year during the holiday season, many of the local charity groups
sponsor annual events to raise money. Each event always has a bake

School starts in Millersville right at the beginning of September.
This year, the residents of Forest Street each have a child starting a

very excited over a new school year and feel compelled to take
pictures of their children on the first day...
Summer is almost over. School starts next week, and so five families
decide to squeeze in one more summer holiday before school starts.

week renting a summer cottage, each in a different town. By some odd

stayed on Cape Cod for either five or six days...
